Aerial Surveys in Panama
We receive quite a few calls from survey firms looking for aircraft support while they are here in Panama.
Some thoughts to keep in mind:
1) We need to know about any potential modifications to the aircraft to mount your equipment. Generally, when ever you drill or move a rivet, you need an STC for the equipment on the specific aircraft. Temporary mounts are fine.
2) Some projects require fuel to be brought to the operating area to assure schedules are adhered to. The cost for transporting the fuel is $500. Plus the cost of the fuel, which is a bit higher than in Panama City.
3) Consider the possibility of using the Cineflex camera system to take HD quality video of the area. We always mention this to our clients. Using the video for PR, sales and marketing work always adds value. The system is quite a bit less than Hollywood rates. The AStar B3 is sown at right but the sytem can be mounted on the Robinson R44 too. The only limitation on the R44 mount is that it is side mounted so forward shots will include the aircraft. The B3 is forward mounted so it will be a clear view out front.
4) Magnetic survey work and video do not work well together.
5) The B3 is equipped with satellite tracking (and phone) so GPS Waypoints are possible along with a complete flight path.
